Michelin-recommended since 2022.We first imagined Aloette to be the perfect diner that we’d want to dine in – a menu with a great burger paired with a fantastic and fun wine list, a long row of bar stools facing the bar and the kitchen, and an energetic atmosphere accented with an old school hip hop playlist. The buzz of the dining room mirrors the energy of the street on Spadina Avenue; the dining room itself mimics a train’s dining car. It’s kind of a bistro, kind of a diner, internationally inspired menu which is also representative of the diverse culture in Toronto.Brunch at Aloette was something we said we’d never do. But the city kept asking and we’re glad to be a new staple in the Queen West neighbourhood for mimosas, chicken and waffles, and piping hot coffees. Gateau Ghost's humble beginnings trace back to the pandemic when founder Jayden Park perfected his madeleines in his home kitchen. This is where crowd favourite Madeline flavours like Matcha-Pistachio, Biscoff, and Miso were first created. Fast forward to 2024, and we've opened the first brick-and-mortar restaurant. General Public is inspired by trying to imagine what an upscale English pub would be if it had the heart of an American brasserie (and was open 11 to 11). It’s also going to signal a little bit of steakhouse, but not too much. And finally, it will look behind itself at the Black Hoof, which you will see reflected in James Santon’s menu here and there. In terms of vibe, the main floor is ‘everything’s gone green’, with lush comfortable banquette seating, warm wood, and barstools designed for long conversations over many cocktails. Upstairs you’ll find a completely different space that transports you to a peachy 80s dream. Somehow these two halves make perfect sense, and complement each other in a seamless conversation, where neither wins the argument, but you really do have to see it! See you soon!
