With a broad deck that overlooks the main stretch of Lake Hopatcong, fresh produce from nearby Halsey Island, and a naturally simple (but rustic) decor, Alice's is a place that celebrates lake living and good company.Lake Hopatcong resident Alice Szigethy opened Alice's in June 2009 to expand the selection of lake destinations. In this reinvention of a building that had been a series of eateries over several decades, the space features vaulted ceilings, reclaimed-barn-wood walls, comfy booths, and a full bar that extends from the airy interior to the breezy deck. A mahogany seating bar runs the length of the deck so guests can sit and enjoy a clear panorama of the water, and an austere metal awning gives outdoor diners a shady place to enjoy the view, the breeze-and, of course, the food.

Casa Bella is an Italian restaurant in Denville that provides for a rich, authentic experience. In addition to a luxurious atmosphere indoors, there is also a deck with a view of Arrowhead Lake for al fresco dining.     Love the cheeseburger, even if the brioche roll disintegrates pretty fast, and tomato slice is tasteless. Great sauce, though. Fries could have been fresher, as in, just out of the fryer. Cocktails teeny but tasty. Love the hot fudge sundae!

    My friend and I chose Becco for our pre-theatre celebration of my milestone birthday. The servers could not have been nicer or more attentive. We each chose their special of ceasar salad or antipasto and entree of 3 different pastas. The food was delicious and plentiful. We couldn’t even finish it. We topped other off with the tri-flavor sorbet dessert in which they put a candle and sang happy birthday to me. It was a very special dining experience.
