From the people that brought you Trattoria Carina, Pub & Kitchen and The Diving Horse comes their newest restaurant, Carina Sorella. Carina Sorella is a casual neighborhood Italian restaurant with a focus on delicious and approachable food in a bright, vibrant atmosphere. Our menu is built around classic dishes - Spaghetti and Meatballs, Cacio e Pepe, Caesar Salad, Chicken Parmesan - but we surround that core of dishes with seasonal, chef driven specialties.The Bryn Mawr location will include the addition of a pizza oven and a full bar, building on the smaller footprint of the existing location in Philadelphia, Trattoria Carina.

Mawn is a noodle house with “no rules,” and the first restaurant for Chef Phila Lorn and his wife Rachel, who bring with them close to 20 years of experience in Philly’s restaurant scene. Phila, pronounced “Pee La,” broken English for Philadelphia, is a first-generation Cambodian-American chef. The first in his family to be born here, his parents and siblings came to Philadelphia as refugees in 1985 after surviving the war in Cambodia.Mawn, which means “chicken” in Khmer, the Cambodian language, represents more than one thing. To Phila, chicken was at every meal growing up, and to his parents, chicken represented peacetime. During the war and genocide of the Cambodian people, there was mostly only what was found in nature to eat, including rice and salt. If there was chicken, it meant no war. At the end of that dark time, recipes were lost, and culture was wiped out, but through survival, a new authenticity was born.

    First time, and we'll be back. We had the chopped salad (basically a chopped antipasto), chicken parm and Gemelle pasta (pesto and basil). The food was obviously made to order and was great. Every dish was big enough for at least two people and we took home the extra portions. Made a great dinner of left overs. Can't wait to explore the rest of the menu (the Pizza at the next table looked and smelled really good). The service was pleasant and helpful...it's a well run restaurant.

    Every dish was so delicious, and the service was very good as well. Definitely recommend going for the Puck & See chef’s tasting so you can enjoy a variety of dishes with your dinner party. Mawn exceeds the hype, I will absolutely be back. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
