REX at The Royal provides guests with transformed southern fare, a full bar, daytime cafe and curated bottle-shop housed in the historical Royal Theatre, known as a staple in the rich cultural history of the City of Philadelphia for its role as a hub for Black culture and artistry, including film-making and live music, during the 20th century. REX at The Royal, now operating out of the newly-renovated theatre, maintains key tenets of the historical site including a stage for live music performances, as well as sweeping arches and other details sustained from the original design. We were on 1526 Sansom St. for 14 years and then moved to 1300 South St. We create gourmet Afghan food that you can find in Afghanistan or here at our Philadelphia location. Our bread's recipe and technique have been passed down from the founder's great-great-grandfather, who owned an array of bakeries and managed many restaurants in Kabul. Passed through generations to our chef, who brought delicious meals to 15th and Sansom of Philadelphia. I took my girlfriend to dimmer and a show for an early Christmas gift. I was very nervous about picking a place to eat before the show as I am mew to Philly. I did I ever het so lucky. Bistro LA Baia was hands down one of the best experiences we both have had. The food was absolutely amazing. I give it a 5 star all the way around. It is a must place to enjoy a byob. Please give it a try and I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

We thoroughly enjoyed our burger and spicy pork tacos. We usually have the fried chicken and/or the ramen, but decided to try something different. We weren’t disappointed.

Had the best experience here! The mezcalita and the pastor ahumado tacos are to die for!! Staff was great, very bright and fun place to be. Will be returning !!!!
