Alla Famiglia has been delighting local and traveled guests in this very same location for over two decades. This "diamond in the rough" is conveniently located on the hilltop of Pittsburgh's South Side. Boasting a fine dining atmosphere, its family owned and operated, and promises to deliver a consistent product with every visit. You will be greeted and treated like family, as you enjoy homemade scratch Italian specialties, an award winning wine list, and complex scratch cocktails. Dine in an old world atmosphere under paddle fans, exposed brick, antiquities from all around the world. Six unique and interestingly decorated dining rooms comprises the character of this institution which started with just 8 tables, 25 years ago. Choose from daily provisioned fishes and exotics from the sea, dry and wet aged Prime beef, tender milk fed veal, and homemade maccheroni are just some of the choices you will have to select from.     We had a great experience dining at Otaru for the first time for my husband’s birthday. Angela was our server and she was wonderful - very knowledgeable and friendly. We each chose to do the Otaru course which included the salmon tataki appetizer, 6 pieces of chef selected premium sushi, a godzilla roll, and matcha ice cream. The selection and quality of the fish was top notch - best we’ve had in Pittsburgh. We even added on a few pieces of nigiri because we were so excited about how delicious it all was! We also enjoyed the blooming love and old fashioned cocktails with our meal. Highly recommend Otaru!

    Terrance was a very attentive excellent server. The chopped salad was delicious with the homemade bread. Got orecchiette which has such a great blend of chicken, garlic, squash and pasta. Our other entree was Cioppino filled with scallops, swordfish, shrimp, mussels & calamari-- Unbelievable!! Portions are perfect. Especially love the option to have half orders on pasta. A true asset to Downtown- highly recommend.
