Claudio Pirollo grew up in Belgium where he soon discovered his passion for cooking as he wandered around his father’s fine Italian épicerie (grocery store) and watched his mother prepare dinner every day. The dual influence of Italy and Belgium triggered Chef Pirollo’s aspirations to develop his knowledge and experience with different flavors.A Trattoria is not a pizzeria, it is an Italian-style eating establishment that is generally much less formal than a ristorante but more formal than an osteria. So for starters, it’s gorgeous. The architecture was so interesting mainly because it’s so ornate and large, so I had to look up what it used to be, and it used to be a bank and supposedly they preserved some of the original bank features like the vault. I’d love to have a tour of the actual building. I am an escargot snob. Theirs was OK. The strip, Brussels, and Mac were very good. I have leftovers and I cannot wait to eat them.

The moment you step inside, you’re greeted with a warm, inviting ambiance that sets the tone for an incredible dining experience. The food, as always, was absolutely delicious—each dish crafted with care and bursting with flavor. What truly elevated our evening was the outstanding service we received from Nebil. His professionalism, attentiveness, and genuine friendliness made us feel truly valued as guests. Nebil anticipated our needs effortlessly, provided thoughtful recommendations, and ensured everything was perfect from start to finish. It’s rare to encounter such exceptional service, and it made an already great meal even more memorable. Filomena, once again, proved why it remains our favorite dining spot!

A group of 4 wanted to split a lot of our lunch choices...plus the checks. No problem. Not only were they accommodating of all of that, our choices came to us already split. Not all restaurants would do that. Staff is charming and knowledgeable. Prices are good. Et Viola is one of my go-to restaurants for good reason. We had mussels, salads and French Onion soup by the way.
