Walk-in's always welcome! Screen Door is a restaurant that presents itself as a love letter to the American South and the revival of regional cooking. Each day, the restaurant receives natural, local organic meats and produce from nearby vendors. The inclusion of regional Pacific Northwest ingredients into a menu of dishes developed in the south has created a unique flavor profile in Screen Door's menu. Many of Screen Doors dishes draw their inspiration from Louisiana and the Cajun cooking that's found there. These include our world-famous fried chicken, Lowcountry shrimp and grits, smoked andouille chicken gumbo and fried okra. Other items, like the house-smoked beef brisket and braised pork shoulder, come straight from the state of Texas. Everything was delicious and well paired, for example the gravy really enhanced the fried chicken rather than overpowering it or making it soggy. Mac and cheese was just the right richness and texture. Cocktail was very tasty. Presentation of everything was thoughtful. Generous portions. I was super impressed with the quality, especially for a casual come-as-you-are restaurant. Would definitely come back if we lived in Portland!

Fantastic restaurant! Mellow ambience on the second floor of a >100 yo house. Cozy. Food was amazing. Duck confit was a very unusual presentation and utterly delicious. Clams and mussels Devine. Prices were very reasonable. Waitstaff was fun and engaged. Definitely going back!

The Ruski Zakuski experience was phenomenal, and with the addition of a cavier and a bread dish, was the perfect amount of food! We were too full for desert, but they still brought out a small frosted cookie with a candle, as it was a birthday event. Absolutely on my permanent dinner spot rotation.

We had a great time, chicken and waffles and the egg Benedict dishes were good. The staff are fantastic! Also, can’t go wrong with bottomless mimosas.
