Sociale (say - "SO-SHEE-AH-LAY!") was born in the bistros of Florence and raised here in Presidio heights. Laughter and Italian music are heard floating up from the star-lit, heated patio greeting you from the discreet garden alley below. Families and friends leaving the frenetic pace of the city behind can experience a lighter and decidedly more Italian mood celebrating in our new private dining room, the traditional room or on the patio as the irresistible scents of warm pastas, herb-infused meats, and the sweet honey and nut coated sfingi with vanilla bean gelato shake permeate the surrounding space. Greens is open for indoor and outdoor dining, with take out available online or at our in-house kiosk. Montesacro is the first “Pinseria Romana” in the United States. Kokkari (pronounced “Ko-Kar-ee”) is a small fishing village located on the islands of Samos in the Aegean Sea, whose name is derived from the small onions that were once produced in the nearby fields. Its fertile soil and Mediterranean climate translated into an abundance of fresh produce as well as treasured seafood and game. Legend tells that Kokkari is the site where Orion, a mighty hunter and a young man of gigantic stature and great beauty, fell in love with the daughter of the king of Chios. For the love of her, Orion forged the island for wild game and seafood to prepare elaborate banquets in celebration of their love.     We celebrated my dad’s 65th birthday here and the Sociale team went above and beyond to make it special. They gave us a perfect table inside but with a view of the festive front outdoor area and our server was so kind. The host helped organize the cake we brought in and they brought it out with candles lit and everything. Noise levels were quiet which was nice for quality conversation. Food was yummy and they did special split pasta dishes for those of us who couldn’t choose between 2 options on the menu. My dad absolutely loved the whole experience! Thank you Sociale!!!

    Excellent meal and ambiance, always a consistent experience eating here. We were really surprised to learn that Villon had stopped dinner service as this is my husbands favorite restaurant for dinner before the shows at Orpheum and Golden Gate theatres, for the delicious innovative dishes. We went for breakfast on a Saturday and as usual the service, food and ambiance were excellent. Would highly recommend, the price point is worth it. We were pleased to learn that the restaurant is working on reopening dinner service - we will be back for dinner when they do.
