ELEM is a new restaurant and cocktail lab on Main + 5th. Guests can expect to indulge in Top Chef Canada alum Mayekar’s bold cooking, featuring creative flavour-packed dishes that highlight the unique spices from cuisines around the world with local ingredients, alongside Winnie Sun’s inventive, element-inspired and sustainability-driven cocktails.ELEM’s food menu is an exploration of flavours and spices from all corners of the world, including Bangkok, California, Spain, Mexico, Italy, and Mumbai – all inspired by Mayekar’s extensive travels and Indian heritage. There will also be a big focus on local BC-grown ingredients. The 2,946 square foot, 76-seat space was designed by Vancouver-based Marko Simcich Architect and features three dining spaces and an open window into the kitchen to see the chefs at work.

    Great, welcoming staff that were very attentive and answered questions well. All dishes looked very presentable and with exciting flavours to match! It was also very clean and overall it was a wonderful experience—a must for date night.

    Our server Lenny was so friendly and helpful. Both our server and food runner took time to explain every part of the menu, and the aspects to each dish we ordered. My partner and I are certain we’ve had some of the best cocktails and the best sushi at Miku. Quality is their specialty and their service is always impeccable. Especially on a busy night like Valentine’s Day, everything ran smoothly for us and we were provided with a booth for the two of us which made dinner extra special! Thank you to the manager as well for responding quickly via email when I had questions about the set menu! Highly recommend their Aburi set, as it gives you a chance to try a variety of items, and for drinks the bergamot sour is a go to for a sweet yet balanced cocktail!

    Incredible food and ambience. The kitchen team are so good at what they do, they don’t even need to talk to each other. It’s a high level of trust and autonomy. The snacks and each dish was well crafted with detail and care. All of the ingredients gelled together into a symphony of taste that was balanced with acid and umami. The Arctic Char was expertly cooked with a crispy skin and living on a bed of hummus which surprised us with textures. Delightful experience!
