The New Yorker opened in 1930 at the height of the Great Depression as the then largest hotel in the city. Beneath the hotel, a bank vault and offices were occupied by the Manufacturers Trust Company until 1980. Our first time dining at Monterey. We shared a Caesar salad and had two of the best steaks in my life! We shared a soufflé for dessert to end this wonderful meal.
