We wanted to create a place where a night out with the kids didn’t mean food adults had to suffer through or a night out with the parents didn’t mean a stuffy place where kids had to wear a scratchy clip-on tie. Shinsei is just that: a neighborhood gathering place with date night appeal. But not so unexpected that you won’t be able to decipher the menu or recognize your favorite dish. Treated my wife to a day date. From the moment we walked in, the hostess at the host stand was welcoming and our server Jordan was outstanding with his recommendations. I had the Chicken Parm with the vodka sauce and my wife had the blackened pork chops. We both were surprised at the large portions. The ambience was very inviting. Our only negative review would be the dessert. We wanted the chocolate cake fondue to be warmer and we thought it was too rich. We couldn’t finish it. It was delicious but way too rich for us. Overall, great value, tasty menu and great service. We can’t wait to go back.

My favorite meal! Yellow tail jalapeño, hearts of palm salad, miso black cod and Matto roll are all a must! Matto tuna roll is special to the Dallas restaurant. Ambiance is perfect!
