Located in historic Blagden Alley in D.C.'s Shaw neighborhood since 2015, The Dabney continues to pay tribute to the wonderful farmers, watermen, and purveyors of the mid-Atlantic region whom provide some of the best and most unique products in the country. We celebrate these ingredients by preparing them in a large wood burning hearth which is the centerpiece of our open kitchen. This was our 2nd visit. We really enjoyed our first visit, so decided to return when in the area instead of trying out a new spot. Made last minute reservations and were seated quickly. There was a very off putting smell when waiting at the host table - couldn’t quite put my finger on what it was. Walked to our table hoping it wasn’t throughout the restaurant. We sat down and reviewed the menu. Waiter arrived and he was not super helpful in helping my parents who had never had been there choose a meal, which was frustrating for a restaurant of this caliber. Felt very rushed to make menu choices and without our questions being adequately answered. Food came out and was fine. Just the waiter ruined the experience.
