Restaurants in Alsace traditionally have a formal main dining room as well as a casual dining room known locally as a weinstube or brasserie. At the brasserie, diners may enjoy traditional, hearty Alsatian dishes in a warm and relaxing atmosphere. These friendly establishments are immensely popular with Alsatians and visiting them is always the best part of my trips back to Alsace. I opened Jacques' Brasserie at L'Auberge Chez François to bring the tastes and comforts of the Alsatian brasserie to Great Falls.

Our signature dishes include the grilled octopus, the kolokithokeftedes (stuffed zucchini fritters), the lavraki whole fish (branzino) filleted table side, and the arni giouvetsi (lamb shank with orzo). Our selection of nine desserts are all made fresh daily in-house and feature Greek classics such as the baklava and the galaktoboureko. Our wine list is meticulously curated on a seasonal basis by son Philip Hobson, selecting from Greece's top vineyards who produce indigenous varietals such as Assyrtiko & Xinomavro, and western grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon & Sauvignon Blanc. As usual a delightful meal in a prefect setting. All staff are friendly and welcoming explaining everything and attentive to our desires and needs. A great value for an upscale meal in the DC area.

I’ve been to 60 Vines many times and have noticed that service is not as excellent lately. Couple weeks ago it was very slow and with errors (e.g., almost didn’t get our silverware). Tonight, my wife and I were brought the wrong wines. They were quickly changed but the check came with the higher price of the wrong wine. This is an error an attentive server should have picked up. These are little things; but things that should not happen. We’ll give it another try, though, because the place is really nice and the food is great.
