Nestled on the waterfront in Irvington, New York, Red Hat on the River is an American modern bistro serving satisfied diners since 2003. There's hardly a seat in the house that does not offer a spectacular view of the Hudson river. Banquettes and a pewter bar accent the space while the walls of this 100-year old renovated factory building are adorned with WPA-era art evoking a feeling of a turn of the century Parisian bistro. Evolving from a humble bistro on main street to a bustling restaurant on the river with a rooftop bar, Red Hat's commitment to providing the very best experience for their guests has always remained the same. Try the classic menu standards of steak frites, moules frites, country terrine, and the Red Hat burger. Seasonal salads, sandwiches, and seafood entrees round out the menu. From its humble beginnings in the quaint Hudson River town of Piermont, New York, Olar was known for serving up rustic Neapolitan pies, classic Spanish tapas, and hand crafted pastas that drew in both locals and foodies from all parts of New Jersey, upstate New York, and New York City and kept them coming back for over a decade.Now in its new location in Northvale, New Jersey, the restaurant, now known as Olar Noso - which means "our home" in Galego, the language spoken in Galicia where the Dominguez family is from - is an evolution in not only name alone.They have managed to scale the restaurant concept generously while replicating the quality and preserving the reputation the former Olar had garnered over the years. Evolving into Olar Noso meant giving Olar's loyal customers everything they loved, while also enhancing their experience with more seating, more elbow room, a full bar, a private event space, and, finally, ample parking.

My daughters and I had a wonderful time at Red Hat. It was our first experience at the restaurant. The cocktails and food were delicious. The service was excellent. We will definitely return!

The menu is very creative with something for everyone. I thought the apps and entres were fairly priced and the portion size ample. I had the octopus appetizer and was a little disappointed with how many legs were served. For entre, the Chicken Scarp was excellent with a good blend of sausage, chicken and peppers. It does seem odd to me that in a suburban quiet town like Ardsley, the bottle of wine prices started at $53. There was nothing special about our chardonnay.

Having a table next to the door it s an inconvenience due to waiters going in and out and it s really cold. Suggestion: dim the light, to bright for a restaurant and doesn’t create a sense of intimacy. Hope you will have dancing nights😊 The decor is absolutely amazing! We will go back.
