Welcome to Toloache (pronounced toh-lo-AH-tchay), chef-owner Julian Medina’s contemporary Mexican bistro located in the heart of the Theater District. Toloache is named after a flowering plant famed in Mexico for its use in love potions. We hope that when you dine with us you too will fall under the spell of chef Medina’s creative cooking, which incorporates seasonal and natural ingredients and more than a dozen types of chilies. Our festive, two-story space features a guacamole and ceviche bar, a wood-burning oven, and an exceptional tequila list, along with elegant decorative elements imported from Mexico. Roberto Paciullo’s hometown of Salerno is transported to the streets of Manhattan. Zero Otto Nove is the second outpost of his famous restaurants from Arthur Ave. in the Bronx. From the atmosphere to the food, stopping by Zero Otto Nove is taking a quick trip to Italy. The wood-burning brick oven is at the center turning out classics like the Margherita, and Roberto's originals, such as La Riccardo with butternut squash puree, smoked mozzarella, spicy pancetta, and basil. All the pastas are homemade, and all ingredients are brought in from New York's Real Little Italy, Arthur Avenue.

Lavagna opened its doors on February 1st 1999.The restaurant offers casual Italian trattoria fare at moderate prices.     We had pre-theater dinner. Food came quickly. We ordered a bunch of apps to share - Brussels sprouts salad, roasted tomatoes, chicken wings, mac and cheese. Everything was amazing. Seasoning was perfectly balanced. Textures were gorgeous. We had s’mores for dessert and that was WOW. Not too sweet (how?? We don’t know) and a little salt. Beyond. I can’t wait to go back.

    Toloache is one of my all time favorite restaurants. I always have a wonderful time when I go — it’s my go-to spot when I’m going into Manhattan to spend time in the theater district. As always, the service was wonderful — the hostess was incredibly kind, as my friend got stuck at a work engagement, the staff was flexible, the bar tenders were warm, and our waiter was lovely! I will always make time to go to Toloache and enjoy every moment!

    We used to regularly go here for its proximity to a theater venue we prefer. We've not been back for a couple of years due to living abroad. Nothing has changed. The service and food are excellent. We were surprised to learn our server was new. She was a total pro, keeping standards we grew to respect over that last 10 years high.

    A perfect spot for a sophisticated, informal dinner. The chopped salads and brick oven pizzas work well together. Food preparation is consistently light and healthy. You can count on any dish ordered to be successful and delicious. Tables are spaced close together but this is nyc afterall.
