Casual waterfront dining right on the docks of the Patchogue River, The Oar serves up fresh and delicious steaks and seafood. Chefs prepare specialties like coconut shrimp, 36 oz sizzling prime porterhouse, lobster quesadillas and fresh Bluepoint oysters and little clams which are delivered daily. Two dining rooms are decorated in traditional nautical style. The food is excellent, and the portions are generous. The restaurant is loud, so conversations are difficult. Also, parking is almost non-existent, so be prepared for a hike on surrounding streets, especially weekend nights.

The food was definitely tasty and large portions. Everything was hot and fresh, and the drinks were on point! I do think the ambiance and flashy style shown on social media is geared more towards the sushi items so i wish there was a bit more showmanship with the other meals. The servers weren’t very personable and rushed everything, with only a 2 minute gap between the appetizer and entree.. still great food!
