Inspired by Ernest Hemingway and named for his beloved boat, Pilar is a neighborhood restaurant that has been a mainstay of 14th street for over a decade.     Outstanding service, food to die for! I had the Terra-mare, and my wife had the pappardelle, both were delicious! The staff made us feel right at home. This is our second visit to this cozy, homey place, and we hope to keep coming back!

    This is our favorite place in the DMV to get a high quality seafood meal. BY FAR! Offerings are extensive and preparations range from simple classics to highly creative combinations. We love their fried clams, oysters Rockefeller, and clam chowder. Their fish specials are superb. Last night I selected a specific fish from the market for them to prepare. Room in front usually high energy while room in back better for a quiet meal. Why this restaurant is not in Washingtonian Top 100 is bewildering.

    The lobster dish was amazing! So tasty and prepared well. One of the best lobster dishes hands down. The oyster appetizer was pretty good. Their bread appetizer wasn't all that it was chalked up to be. The crab appetizer was also pretty good.

    Only thing was they didn't have their Valentine's menu offered, even though it was advertised under open table and when I made the reservation. 2/13-2/15 Love Earls- will come back!
