The Winding Stair Bookshop & Café became a famous Dublin landmark in the 1970s and 1980s. Named after the Yeats poem and in honour of its winding staircase, it is overlooking the river Liffey, with an iconic view of the Ha'penny bridge. As a popular meeting place for writers, musicians and artists, it was a well known hub for debate and creativity with many poems written, novels penned and movies shot within its walls. In 2006, Elaine Murphy brought this much-loved spot back to life as a restaurant, championing seasonal, Irish produce. The bookshop, located on the ground floor, was retained, as were many of the old bookshelves, photos and memories. The room retains its timeless charm with stripped wood tables and floors, and Bentwood café chairs.The view remains as quintessentially Dublin as ever.The food is good, old-fashioned home cooking, with produce sourced from artisans within the island. Always so good and last night was as good as ever. Tried something different on the Menu and it was so so good. As usual the service was fantastic and there was a great buz in the restaurant. Music is always great. Overall another fabulous night in our favourite Dublin Italian restaurant.

Overall We had a fantastic evening. The food was fantastic and the service delivered by the floor staff was great. If we had to pick on something the man who welcomed us at the door could have been friendlier.

Excellent service from time of booking to paying the bill. Lovely welcome downstairs and all staff were courteous, warm and professional. We had a really nice table which they rang to check beforehand. Food was delicious as always. Thanks a million.

We had a wonderful meal here on a very damp cold Dublin night. Dishes were very tasty. Huge wine selection. No draught beers but lots of choice in bottles. A little pricey but not vastly dissimilar from more commercial restaurants, with a significantly higher quality. Staff were professional and attentive. A lovely evening all round!
