Top Roe is a Yōshoko Japanese restaurant located in Austin Texas. Created by Executive Chef Paul Qui, there are two experiences offered under one roof: Top Roe Izakaya and Top Roe Hand Roll. Our 12-seat handroll counter operates on a first come, first served basis. Because no one likes a soggy handroll, Top Roe’s handrolls are exclusively offered at the handroll counter. The handroll counter also encourages a 30-to-45-minute dining experience to preserve the integrity of the freshly made handrolls. Top Roe’s menu in the izakaya-style dining room offers a small plate menu featuring agemono(fried dishes), yakimono (grilled dishes) and cold plates dictated by what’s available from Qui’s favorite local farms and meat and seafood purveyors. Stay for a while if you’d like! The izakaya dining room is designed to welcome longer dining experiences than its in-and-out handroll bar counterpart.

Located on Austin’s vibrant South Congress Avenue, Neighborhood Sushi serves high quality sushi and Japanese-inspired dishes in a casual and beautiful setting. Happy hour and-a-half will offer food and beverage specials weekdays 3pm - 5pm throughout the entire restaurant. Our front door is on the neighborhood facing side, in the Annie Street parking lot.     Exquisite program chef Paul has assembled. We sat at the hand roll bar. Seaweed wrappings were crunchy. Tuna was vibrant. Yellowtail Sashimi melts in mouth, was quite provocative sensually. The atmosphere has that “the place to be” energy. Roe was on top. Our server, Gage, was delightfully attentive.

    We’ve been here several times and the food and service are always good. The edamame is particularly unique, specials menu has nice variety for all parties (pork belly delicious), nigiri is high quality, tender and buttery. Wine selection nice.

    We had a great meal with a couple of first time visitors- the wagyu tacos and scallop nigiri were awesome! Our server, Victoria, was super knowledgeable about the menu as well. (Be prepared to spend a bit if you’re hungry, but it’s well worth the asking prices.)

    First timer trying this spot with a group of buddies in town. Overall amazing experience with cocktails on point at the start. We decided to order a bit of everything to try more options sharing. Seemed like most people here were in groups & staff were great. Recommend trying as price point was worth the value as I will be back!
