Tex-Mex cuisine began in the Rio Grande Valley before migrating up to San Antonio during the l860's where a group of women known as The Chili Queens' began to pop up in the city's plazas selling chili con carne with tamales, enchiladas, and chili verde. They incorporated cumin into their dishes favored by settlers from theCanary lslands, which still has a strong influence on Mexican food in Texas. The surf & turf option was great but we wish we would have gotten the crab option instead of scallops (which were few and small). Lovely setting for dinner; service was great!!

We had the most wonderful dinner. The waitress was outstanding in that she seemed to know exactly when we needed something. The food was to die for. This was a birthday celebration for a very special person in my life and he enjoyed himself immensely. He was given the huge slice of cake that we are still enjoying the day after.

Very good food and service overall at BJ's Restaurant in Southcenter Mall. Everyone liked what they ordered in my group and I heard no complaints regarding either the food, service or noise level. A few standouts from the food ordered include the New Orleans Jambalaya, a Gourmet Five Meat Pizza, and the Wedge Salad, as well as the non-alcoholic Berry Tasty drink.
