In 1688, Joseph Haviland built a tidewater gristmill that provided the locally-grown grains to a nearby bakery that supplied farmers and tradesmen with bread. It was the first public oven in New York State. Haviland’s Old Grist Mill and the public bakery were community gathering places for two centuries. Inspired by Joseph Haviland’s noble efforts, the Haviland Kitchen & Bar has been established for our neighbors. Another great meal at Chadwicks! I continue to write the same review because my feelings don’t change. The food is consistently good, the service is exceptional, the atmosphere is lovely and the price point is very fair.

My friends took me to Chat Noir for my birthday because it is one of my favorite restaurants and as always the food, the ambiance and the service was excellent! We ordered the beef bourbuignon, the chicken pot pie and the goat cheese tart all of which were incredibly delicious finished off with the chocolate chip bread pudding complete with a candle and singing by the thoughtful staff. If you’re looking for a memorable dining experience then book a table at Chat Noir and let the feast begin.
