Mark even fishes for his own crayfish and trout from the local reservoir! Cooking is modern British and menus change daily depending on what is fresh and seasonal - with the signature slow roasted pork belly, with foot long crackling, being a favourite.

The Fishes is a hidden gem. Quite a big gem, too. An imposing Victorian building set in acres of wooded grounds leading down to the banks of Seacourt Stream. The deck that wraps around the conservatory offers a rare opportunity in land-locked Oxford to dine outside with an idyllic view.     First time I have been to the White Hart in many years, and I had forgotten just how special this place is. The building of course is totally unique in historical terms, and is beautifully presented, even in these mad health and safety days. The ambience is pure magic - warm and welcoming, non-intrusive but carefully chosen background music. Staff were all incredibly welcoming and once we were eating, didn't keep coming to ask "how is everything?" which really annoys me in some places. Food was 5* excellent - I am vegetarian and could not fault my Main. Two teenage kids had steak and they were very happy with theirs, which is quite unusual (either over or under done, but not here). My wife had the house G&T, and I had the house breads, both of which were amazing. Main complaint - no room for dessert! Keep it up, and we'll be back very soon!

    All of the team working on the morning of 15th February 2025 were delightful, polite and attentive. We could not have asked for better service. Food was delicious and delivered promptly. Atmosphere lovely (except one child having a meltdown which was managed admirably by the parents). Thanks to everyone who served us and cooked for us.

    Very friendly welcome, lovely table, really particularly good roast and sticky toffee pudding, staff very engaged and keen we enjoyed it, would definitely recommend and will be back
