In the Royal Lancaster Hotel, the Nipa Thai restaurant has been named after the original Nipa Restaurant in the Landmark Hotel in Bangkok. Lots of teak panelling, traditional Thai furnishings and artefacts lend an authentic air. All the staff dressed in traditional Thai costume are from Thailand - even the lady chefs. This authentic Thai restaurant is one of the first 15 recipients of the 'Thai Select' award - this award has been described as being the first ever Michelin-style award for Thai restaurants proven to be performing to the highest standards of quality and cuisine, and is awarded by the Thai Government. We think this award sums up Nipa Thai rather nicely. What's cooking? Delicious food and great service! We ordered the pomelo salad, papaya salad and pad Thai with prawns. Only flag is that they add £2.50 cover charge per person on the bill. It was not disclosed in the reservation nor on the menu or elsewhere.

We had a really good dinner. The food, ambience, service and price were perfect! Highly recommended. The service was really good. The place is small but feels warm and cosy with amazing decor. We requested to get eggless pad Thai and our request was immediately addressed. Thanks for the great service and ambience.
