Once the beautiful Victorian interiors of this old pub were restored to their original glory and the first floor dining room opened, along with outside terrace for dining, the locals must have breathed a sigh of delight before tucking into some seriously good gastropub grub. Business folk crowd in at lunchtimes, while friendlier couples and groups pack in evenings and weekends. There is something here to suit most palates and pockets. The menu changes daily - another sign that they're serious about food here - but we recently loved the fish chowder, and the aubergine, potato and spinach bhaji with yoghurt. The wine list is heaven.

The Ivy restaurant has been a firm fixture on London’s dining and social scene since 1917. The restaurant and private room upstairs are the epitome of real glamour. A shimmering central dining bar in the restaurant draws admiring attention, and the signature harlequin stained-glass windows, oak panelling and striking contemporary art collection ensure the longevity of this very British of dining institutions. We are a natural wine bar and restaurant in the heart of Soho - we change our menu weekly and cook with the seasons using the best ingredients the season has to offer. Our menu is an eclectic array of dishes that we're either in the mood to eat or that take inspiration from a dish we've enjoyed somewhere along our journey. Shonibare’s artist-conceived vision presented a new sunshine-yellow setting designed by Mahdavi, marking a new culture-defining chapter for sketch in its 20th year. Using applique and embroidery techniques on richly dyed fabrics, Shonibare illuminates the influence of African traditions on European conceptions of our modern-day world.
