When owner Johnny Carrabba set out on his next restaurant venture, he knew his vision would include the fond memories he had of his dear grandmother Grace Mandola. Grace, also known to the family as Mama, was a Sicilian woman born to immigrant parents in Louisiana. She had a flair for cooking, hospitality, and deep faith.She was known to make bread from scratch every Saturday for her legendary three-hour Sicilian Sunday lunches; and, her newly established family roots in Louisiana added interesting flavors to her home cooked meals. The entire Mandola family, including her five children and fourteen grandchildren, was regularly greeted in her home with smells of warm bread, well brewed sauces and homemade soups. It was around her table that her family learned the true meaning and value of relationships, friendships and good food.

Known by generations for her hospitality, proprietress Elouise Adams Jones, a.k.a. Ouisie, serves an eclectic collection of Southern foods with an excellent wine list to match. High ceilings and fans in the main dining room it evoke the ambiance of a Texas manor house. The adjacent dining porch overlooking the patio and garden, as well as Cooper’s Wine Bin, provide additional dining and entertaining areas.     Wow! What a wonderful addition to the area! Our whole experience was exceptional from the ambiance, staff, cocktails and food. The crab dip was phenomenal! I highly recommend the snapper and the steak carpaccio (which had an amazing flavor profile). Perfect place for a date night, entertaining clients, and special occasions.

    Three of us met for lunch there today and had a perfect experience. I got the Yardbird, 1/4 fried chicken (I chose white meat) and it was some of the best fried chicken I have had in recent memory. It came with collard greens and mashed potatoes, both of which were great, although the potatoes were a bit dry. A friend got chicken and waffle with same fried chicken on a good looking waffle. The other got the bacon-cheeseburger with ground and braised beef. It looked totally awesome with hand cut fries. All the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Our server was attentive and checked on us a couple of times without being intrusive. I would strongly recommend this restauarant!
