Nestled in the heart of Ashtown Village, Dublin 15, overlooking the Royal Canal, The Lock Keeper can be found at Lock #10. Steeped in heritage, this double lock was constructed c.1792. With quality stonework and attractive sloping edges Lock 10 is one of 46 along the Royal Canal and continues to be a testament to the skill of the craftsmen involved. Our bar is adjacent to the Lock Keepers House, a post that became obsolete in 1961 when the canal was closed to traffic the previous year. The Royal Canal, which runs from the River Liffey to the River Shannon and stretches a distance of 145km, was originally built for freight and passenger transportation with the last working barges ceasing to operate in 1951.Now beautifully maintained by Irish Waterways, you are welcome to visit The Lock Keeper by canoeing, walking or cycling from Dublin City Centre. This is one of the best meals I have had in a very long time. The food was excellent, fantastic choices and flavours that were out of this world. Beautiful rich tastes, every bite layered. A party for the taste buds. As a coeliac I have been extremely disappointed with the restaurant experiences in Dublin, but I think I just found my favourite restaurant last night. The service was brilliant, this was a birthday dinner and we were treated to a free glass of Prosecco on arrival and a mini birthday cake with candle at the end of the meal. The staff was friendly, informative and we were never left waiting. I will be coming back for years to come!

Everything was perfect! The food was delicious, the place was cozy and the service was outstanding! Perfect for a special dinner. We went there to celebrate my boyfriends birthday and the waiters and waitress were so attentive and made sure it was memorable. Luna was super nice and helpful with her recommendations. We can’t wait to come back and try other dishes, they really were absolutely delightful (and so many vegetarian options!). Highly recommend!

We had a table for four in the basement of the restaurant. The food was excellent, from a simple and very tasty pasta dish to more sophisticated fare. Staff were friendly and efficient. Cost for three starters , four mains and a bottle of wine was €56 each including tip.
