Bright and airy, with a vintage retro style and featuring distressed wooden tables topped in white marble, salvage greenhouse window frames and comfy linen banquettes, Salt continues Avoca’s emphasis on serving delicious, seasonal dishes with largely locally sourced ingredients. Salt's name comes its Salthill locale - which itself was derived from salt works that were once here - plus the nearby sea and, of course, the seasoning. Located on the sixth floor of The Mayson Hotel is Ryleigh’s Rooftop Restaurant, with outdoor terrace. Take in the panoramic vista of the Dublin Mountains, the River Liffey, the city centre and even as far as Dun Laoghaire on a clear day! Comfy leather clad booths line the windows. An open kitchen and grill adds a sense of theatre to the room. Floor to ceiling windows make the most of the views and the only walls in the room are clad in beautiful veined marble. Best restaurant I have been to so far in Ireland. I had booked the terrace for the nice views. Spectacular views especially during the evening. Was a bit too chilly even with the heating provided. However we were provided with blankets to cover up. The service was exceptional, food came fast, tasted good as well. Just the steak wasn’t hot enough but still tasted good. A bit costly but I would say worth the experience.

Excellent in every way! Three generations of our family enjoyed delicious food in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Everything was just right but it was Larry and the other staff who made us feel extra special. Knowledgeable about the food and drinks and attentive, these guys really know what they're doing.

Excellent food with the right size portions for a 3 course meal. The complementary small tasty soup is a lovely gesture and all the courses are beautifully presented and taste great. Warm but unobtrusive service and no rushing customers to get the table back. Highly recommended.
