Essence is a casual restaurant that serves French cuisine using seasonal ingredients. Chef Shiro Naito opened the restaurant in 2010 to provide dishes that celebrate the essence of each season. Essence is conveniently located next to Inokashira Park and Ghibli Museum. Its spacious dining area provides tables for guests and a private room for special occasions. The menu at Essence offers themed seasonal courses. The restaurant uses organic, pesticide-free vegetables from Yoko Farms, has its fish and shellfish delivered directly from Hakodate and uses chemical-free fertilizer from Tokorozawa to grow some of its own ingredients.

While the restaurant itself serves a wide variety of classic Japanese fare, Rakushoku Fujita's main specialty is its sake options. the bar carries over 30 different kinds of sake which range from relatively inexpensive to extremely rare valuable varieties. Rakushoku Fujita's food menu consists mainly of fish and seafood options. The address on Open tables was incorrect, so my wife and I could not find the restaurant on our 1st booking. However, after contacting the restaurant they were more happy to accommodate us the following evening. The welcome was amazing and the food was also just as good. The Japanese and Mexican fusion was quite delicious and well worth a visit. If I’m ever back in Shibuya, I’ll most definitely visit again.
