Essence is a casual restaurant that serves French cuisine using seasonal ingredients. Chef Shiro Naito opened the restaurant in 2010 to provide dishes that celebrate the essence of each season. Essence is conveniently located next to Inokashira Park and Ghibli Museum. Its spacious dining area provides tables for guests and a private room for special occasions. The menu at Essence offers themed seasonal courses. The restaurant uses organic, pesticide-free vegetables from Yoko Farms, has its fish and shellfish delivered directly from Hakodate and uses chemical-free fertilizer from Tokorozawa to grow some of its own ingredients.

Enjoy a relaxing meal in a calm atmosphere.]``Honoka'', which opened on the first floor of a newly built building, is the second store of ``Ichiho'', which is also located on Chazawa-dori in Sangenjaya. The main meal is ``tuna dishes''! We also have a wide selection of seasonal ingredients, a la carte dishes, and specially selected meat dishes. Tempura is also popular!There are 34 seats in the store. There are 6 counter seats and 4 table seats (each seat can accommodate 2 to 4 people).The tatami room in the back can accommodate up to 12 people.     The food in the omakase was excellent, varied, and plentiful. The sake pairings were all delicious. We felt informed on what was coming out to us for each course and struggled to eat it all while absolutely wanting to consume every single bite. This meal was a highlight of our trip to Tokyo and we wholeheartedly recommend it to others.

    We really enjoyed our meal (lunch set 1) served in a lovely 2 tier bento box that came with soup, various vegetables in different preparations, along with really tasty rice. The meal was served without explanation of what everything was, but we still enjoyed the experience and food.
