Rengaya has been serving YAKINIKU in North Sydney since 1993, making it one of Australia’s pioneering Japanese barbeque restaurants. Now, that tradition is set to continue at its new digs on Miller Street – just a short stroll from the original location – in a much more modern, striking setting. The new fit-out features bar-counter seats around an open kitchen, red booth seating divided by Japanese-style timber panelling and a hard-to-miss chandelier. What a fantastic restaurant! The food was outstanding as was the service. Staff were so friendly and accommodating. When one of the sides was delayed it was offerred to us as complimentary. Sitting at the bar was so much fun. We could watch all the activities in the kitchen area and had instant access to staff if we needed to request anything. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone after great food and service.

Great place to go, especially if you have a play to catch at the Opera House. Conveniently situated by the trains and Light rail. Food was really tasty, staff very attentive, and the restaurant very busy, it is best to book. We will definitely return there.

The experience which allows only 60 min sitting felt a bit rushed. We were asked to place our final order at 30 min as it is the restaurant’s policy to ask for final order 30 min before the end of the sitting. The charcoal flavour was strong - which the kids didn’t enjoy. But overall an authentic yakitori drinking spot.
