Chapter One is an award-winning Modern European restaurant with 3 AA Rosettes in Orpington, Kent. Following a major refurbishment in early 2019, Chapter One has relaunched with a more modern approach, tempting guests with greater variety and quality.Under the direction of acclaimed chef Andrew McLeish, modern European cooking is available in two formats. In the Restaurant, sophisticated seasonal dishes are served in a refined setting with a weekly changing 3-course Lunch Menu du Jour, a seasonally-inspired 7-course Tasting Menu and an a la carte option. Booked on website yet price was increased on the day! Pushed empty water bottle to edge of table but no more water offered for two more courses until I asked then just one glass full given. When querying the price I was told they had forgot to update the website which was still showing the earlier price but no adjustment offered!

Not been for a while, and booked the brasserie. The staff from the moment I walked in, I could not fault - they were friendly and efficient. Starters, there was a good choice, well presented & tasty. Mains - ribeye, was well cooked. My wife had the sea bass, which was ok, but a little underwhelming. Desserts - sticky toffee pudding lived up to its name ! Again the lady waitress was excellent, friendly, chatty, and knowledgeable. I will definitely go back.
