The oldest family run restaurant in London. Spanning 6 decades and three generations, Il Portico Restaurant on Kensington High Street has been cooking regional Italian specialities since it was first opened in the 1960"s by acclaimed chef Pino Chiavarini. Still managed to this day by the same family, siblings James and Francesca draw heavily from their roots, providing simple, authentic Italian food from their home region of Emilia Romagna and beyond. Supper club veg. Being able to experience the delight in how wonderful vegetables can be and a different ways in which they are cooked and presented was absolutely amazing. It was so wonderful to be able to taste and experience vegetables in this manner which literally sang was phenomenal. You only ever get to see these dishes on MasterChef and actually be there and be part of that whole experience I can’t put it into words. I just employ anybody to visit and go there and experience the culinary delights at Rottura.

This was our visit to Il Portico. What a great find! It has everything. A great vibe, very busy on a Saturday night Staff were lovely, from being greeted to explaining the menu. A traditional family restaurant. Most importantly the food is excellent- minestrone, sardines, lamb shank and the special pasta. We would definitely love to come back. We had travelled ( long difficult journey due to weather) from Scotland for the weekend. This was a wee oasis and we really enjoyed it all.
