Mamma Roma is an authentic Italian restaurant located at 4/7 Antigua Street Edinburgh. Situated very close to the Edinburgh Playhouse, this restaurant is not only great for Pre-Theatre diners but also has a delicious and extensive choice of menus to satisfy all customers. The restaurant can also be found within a 10 minute walk of Princes Street Gardens and a convenient 5 minute walk from Edinburgh Waverley train station. Mamma Roma’s restaurant is spread over multiple floors. The main dining area is decorated in Tuscan farmhouse style with paintings and medallions embellishing the walls. Special attention is given to the elaborate list of pasta and pizza delicacies and a bowl of gelato or a plate of tiramisu helps to round off a meal on a savory note.

Welcome to Down the Hatch - EDINBURGH!We are a diner focusing on diner style food with big flavour, fresh ingredients, huge taste and all things Canadian!! Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult and are not permitted from 8pm onwards. We have a 10 minute grace period for your booking. The experience reminds me of a traditional Italian trattoria in a city neighbourhood. There was a good mix of regulars and city visitors which added to the cosy ambience. The furnishings and decor were a good blend of traditional and contemporary with subtle lighting. The staff were professional, welcoming and knowledgeable about the food and wine. The value for money on the set lunch menu was astonishing. The food was traditional, with a good choice and quality and well cooked and presented.

This is not a cheap option for lunch, but for a special occasion or treat, it is one of my favourite places in Edinburgh. The food, service and ambience are consistently exceptional. Definitely need to book in advance. The phone was busy all lunchtime with people looking for a table that night but they were fully booked.

Good variation on food choices and excellent service. First time at Down the Hatch and would definitely go again and recommend it to others.

No 11 Brunswick Street was a superb choice of venue for my birthday meal. The quality of the food was incredible and value for money. Service was great, very friendly and attentive. We had our choice of tables and were greeted very warmly. A lovely venue, amazing food and great service. Will definitely be back.
