Vallozzi's started over 50 years ago when Helen Vallozzi was selling homemade pastas out of her home. Helen opened a take out restaurant in Latrobe, PA a few years later where her popularity exploded. In 1977, Ernie Vallozzi moved his mothers location to Greensburg where it is still open and operating today. In 2012 Ernie's son Julian expanded the tradition in to downtown Pittsburgh. Vallozzi's Pittsburgh has recently joined a mere 1,200 restaurants worldwide as a recipient of the Wine Spectator Magazine's Best of Award of Excellence and is the only Italian restaurant in Pittsburgh to receive such an honor.     Our 2nd time dining here. It was our 46th anniversary and we were congratulated several times by staff. Our entrees of fresh pasta were excellent. We shared rosoto balls and carrot & beet salad - both yummy. The suggested wines were lovely. Finishing up with Apple Costini with whipped mascarpone was a delicious ending served by the chef.

    This place is fantastic! Everything from the small plates (risotto), to main courses (mushroom pasta & rack of lamb) were excellent. The server steered us in just the right direction for wines that paired perfectly with our dinners. I also noticed that every meal that came out of the kitchen was closely inspected but the manager to make sure they were on the mark (and they were). This was an anniversary dinner for my wife and me, and we could not have chosen better! Highly recommend it!

    Service was excellent and the food was outstanding. They had a gluten free pasta for one of us and my pasta was delicious. Our other diner really liked the chicken parm.
