In 1962, Johnny Harlowe made the jump from the silver screen to chef and owner of Dear John’s. Convinced by his pal Frank Sinatra, Johnny opened the iconic spot just a ways down from Sony Studios on Culver Blvd. It became the watering-hole for the Hollywood elite with Sinatra often in the corner playing the piano against the dark brick walls once lined with portraits of famous John’s. Mastro’s Ocean Club in Downtown LA does it again. The Service, Food, and ambiance were incredible. Located directly across the street from the Crypto Arena, Mastro’s makes for a good choice before a Laker Game. Our waiter, Chris, was very attentive and the live music was outstanding. We enjoyed our Martini’s, the spicy Mambo salad, Filet, mushrooms, and baked potato with caviar. If you’re looking forward to a high end meal before visiting Crypto, I highly recommend Mastro’s .
