The Hartwood Restaurant enjoys a rich history. The originally the headquarters of the Harmar Coal Company. Purchased in 1988, the building was transformed into retail space, including antiques and a bookstore. Café tables were soon added amongst the book shelves, Over the years, The Hartwood Restaurant has evolved into a charming and unique place for meals, drinks, and events. The elegant dining rooms and a pub featuring hand-tooled woodwork and stained glass artwork.The Hartwood also features outdoor dining in a garden-like atmosphere, complete with a wood burning fireplace. Whisper’s Pub features an eclectic wine list from around the world with more than a dozen different wines by the glass, as well as seasonal cocktails, craft beers, and wine flights. Enjoy the many different spaces our restaurant has to offer, including the intimate tables in our dining rooms, Whisper's Pub, dining al fresco, and private rooms for parties. Butterjoint is a comfy bar and restaurant located in North Oakland. Our welcoming and eclectic atmosphere is appropriate for almost any occasion - whether it be meeting a friend for a drink, celebrating an important event, or relaxing after work. Our menu is a mixture of familiar Pittsburgh foods (think pierogies, hamburgers, French fries) and French bistro classics (beef tartare, raclette, mussels), and seasonal classics that come and go throughout the year. We put care into our vegetarian dishes too, including making our own tempeh, falafel, and veggie patties from scratch. Menu items change frequently--usually every day--and reflect many long-standing relationships we have with farms and breweries in our region. In addition to reservations, we also have a thirty seat bar that is first come, first serve. We don’t know exactly how old the bar is, but it’s at least seventy years old (probably older) and very cozy. Our friendly bartenders are here to make something you like.

    As always Ryan took care of us even going out of his way to have a makeshift Shirley Temple station at our table- very nice touch- meal was delicious and made my 50th birthday dinner special- thank you!

    My wife and I decided to celebrate her birthday at Eleven. We were not disappointed. Everything was wonderful! We started early with $9 cocktails at the bar. We had Martinis with Plymouth Gin for only $9. They were great! Then we got $9 glasses of wine to take to our table. We ordered oysters to start, and they tasted so fresh, sweet & briny. My wife had the pork chop and I had the radiatori. They were both delicious. Finally, we had the Trio of Ice Creams with very rich & creamy vanilla bean, lavender honey, & maple brown walnut butter. They were all so good. Nick, our server was excellent too. He never rushed us, but he seemed to be always there to ask if everything was OK and if we needed anything.

    Food was excellent and Ruby, our server, was outstanding! Very attentive and checked back multiple times plus she was very friendly. Would definitely recommend the Artisan Bread Board, Crab Cakes and Not Your Grandma’s Pretzel Salad - delicious!! We will definitely be back.

    The small plates and charcuterie were wonderful. We always love trying a bunch of different things so having a variety of small plates and shareable was a treat! Our server was friendly and very helpful, the atmosphere was fun and relaxed, and the seating was cozy but didn’t feel cramped
