The Lexington is more than a restaurant, it’s an institution. Located on the corner of Lexington Parkway and Grand Avenue, this St. Paul community was the most fashionable at the turn of the 19th century. The St. Paul elite lived just blocks away and the first electric trolley brought visitors up and down Grand Avenue. The Lexington opened in 1935, after the end of prohibition, and was a popular neighborhood bar to gather and socialize. Previously operating as a speakeasy, the expansive wood panels were perfect for hiding a little booze and one can only imagine the shenanigans going on beyond the hidden staircase behind the coat check. The reservation through open table was perfect. Seated quickly by a friend and professional staff. Our waitress was good, but a little hard to hear in a noisy environment. The food was very good, hot and tasty. We will be back.

I met 3 friends for lunch. We shared 2 meatballs as an appetizer. They were fantastic and 2 meatballs were plenty for an appetizer. Our meal orders were all over the menu. All were delicious but the winner was the "Minute Chicken". We shared the Banana Pudding for dessert. There was plenty to share and was the best banana pudding that I have ever had. The place was packed on this Tuesday for lunch, but our server, Jessie, treated us as if we were the only table in the house. I can't wait to go back.
