Located in historic Blagden Alley in D.C.'s Shaw neighborhood since 2015, The Dabney continues to pay tribute to the wonderful farmers, watermen, and purveyors of the mid-Atlantic region whom provide some of the best and most unique products in the country. We celebrate these ingredients by preparing them in a large wood burning hearth which is the centerpiece of our open kitchen. The current dining room experience is an 8-course tasting menu honoring the Mid-Atlantic's bounty. We offer an additional 3-course experience at our bar and bar area tables. Walk-in guests are welcome to enjoy the bar area as well.The Dabney has been awarded one Michelin star every year since 2017, James Beard Foundation Best Chef Mid-Atlantic for Chef Jeremiah Langhorne in 2018, and Washingtonian Magazine's #1 restaurant in 2023.     This was our first visit. We started with the four gras and the beet salad, both delicious. We had the lamb for two, prepared with Meyer lemon. It was perfectly balanced, the lemon added to the dish instead of overpowering it and the meat was a perfect medium rare. The staff was attentive and friendly, especially the bartender. We would like to go back on a night when they have their tasting menu available. The only thing that was off was that it was very smoky. I think one of their exhaust fans is broken.

    This was an amazing experience I really enjoyed the fact that from the moment you arrive they make it feel personal as if you and your guest as if you rented out the place.. every dish was explained in great culinary fashion and I love the way each server and host incorporated their knowledge of the dish being served. Hands down one of the premier experiences in the D.C area and a must for impressing any level of company you have. The value is very worth it but the experience is priceless..

    My wife and I had the pleasure of meeting Chef Lee, who was incredibly kind and took the time to personally greet everyone. The staff were just as welcoming, demonstrating excellent communication and attentiveness. The atmosphere struck a perfect balance between modern elegance and cozy warmth. The course meal exceeded all expectations—each dish was thoughtfully designed with exceptional taste, creativity, and a seamless flow of service. The alcohol pairing was also expertly curated, enhancing the overall experience. What stood out most was Chef Lee’s dedication to sustainability in his restaurant. I recommend visiting the website prior to your visit to understand his intent with the non-profit org. His vision is truly inspiring, and I deeply respect his ambition.     Our dinner on February 11 was excellent - escarole salad and sea bream crudo, and bucatini and squab breast. All the staff, from the host on down, were cordial and helpful, and our server, Adriana was delightful. We look forward to joining you again in the near future.

    Awesome experience at lunch today! Food was fresh, tasted great and they worked with my dietary constraints. Server Dominick was outstanding. Room music was pleasant but not so loud as to drown out conversations. The only thing I'd suggest if they would please calculate the carbs in each, (or a few) of the selections, it'd make it easier for diabetics to eat there.
