Yopparai is a well-loved Japanese restaurant and sake bar known for a wide variety of sake paired with traditional Japanese cuisine. Welcome to Tempura Matsui –A Michelin One Star–Tempura Matsui invites you to experience the fine art of cooking tempura. Within a serene setting, guests have a seat at our counter or tables and can view the delicate preparation of lightly frying fresh fish and vegetables. We only serve Omakase Dinner Course for $280 per person at 2 specific times Tuesdays through Saturdays between 5:30PM and 8PM. Also, we serve a Lunch Course for $160 per person at 12 noon only on Fridays and Saturdays. Open irregularly on Sundays. Tempura Matsui is designed to emulate a Japanese cottage with warm woods, slate floors. A five-seat bar allows guests to wait for their seats while enjoying a glass of wine, sake, cocktail, or beer. This is one of my favorite restaurants. Delicious sushi with some Thai influences. Intimate setting. The chefs prepare the meal in front of you, they have a great sense of humor. They refill your sake continuously through the night. They are so welcoming and so clearly enjoy what they do! You leave feeling full but not uncomfortably so. It is a great value.

Yopparai offers a unique Japanese dining experience. The sake menu is worth the visit, but what was truly special was the ambiance. We sat with friends in a secluded booth, artfully decorated, which set the stage. Our waiter did an excellent job of guiding us through the menu, which has many familiar-looking items (sushi/sashimi/tempura/etc). But the care and presentation here was out of the ordinary. Highly recommended.
