Poggio is a classic Italian trattoria with comfortable neighborhood charm and destination-caliber cuisine. Created by Larry Mindel, who also founded numerous other restaurants in the Bay Area and beyond, Poggio has been ranked among the very best Italian restaurants since it opened. Led by Executive Chef and Partner Ben Balesteri, Poggio’s daily changing menus use the best available local ingredients including dishes inspired by the seasonal bounty of our local farmers, ranchers and fishermen and the traditional methods of Italy, including wood-fired ovens, house made pastas from scratch and a wide variety of dishes serving guests breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We’re honored to have been awarded a Bib Gourmand distinction by the Michelin guide in 2017, 2018, and along with being named Best Italian restaurant in Marin County by Marin Magazine in 2021.

We have been regular visitors to Poggio, The food, off the charts. Only to be completed by the customer service. If you are ever in the Sausalito area, visit Poggio, you wont be disappointed!

Another wonderful meal at Poggio. Very busy on Christmas Eve yet everything was perfect and timely. Our server, Daniela, made the evening better. Pappardelle pasta was outstanding and the featured Langhe Nebbiolo wine was delicious with it. Best restaurant in Marin.

We were greeted and promptly seated on arrival. We were seated at a lovely booth that accommodated our group of five beautifully. Being Christmas Eve, the restaurant was extremely busy. The service was very pleasant if a little slow at times. that was most understandable as previously stated it was Christmas Eve. Most of the group started with a salad. And all were very happy with their choices. Our entrée choices were the halibut, pork chop, and short ribs. They were all very well prepared, but were served lukewarmm. All and all it was a lovely evening enjoyed by each of us. Poggio is our Christmas Eve tradition with friends. We will be back before Christmas Eve of 2025 as we always enjoy Poggio. .

Poggio never disappoints! One of our all time favorite restaurants! It has such a happy, festive vibe and we LOVE BART! Never change!

I wanted to express my disappointment in our/my meal yesterday afternoon. My guest ordered the Tartare and the crostini on the side of that was very burned. My appetizer was the Prosciutto, described as coming with pear, "20 month san daniele ham, pear, persimmon, watercress, mint, pecans, aceto balsamico" and did not have any pear. When I mentioned it to the waiter, he said, oh, "The chef must have made a mistake", but then he never rectified it. We also ordered bread, and it did not come until we reminded him about it halfway through our appetizers. We both really would have enjoyed it as an accompaniment to our wine and appetizers, as is usually when bread is served. Our waiter overall was very inattentive and only checked on us once. The busboy gave us more attention than the waiter. Lastly, the water carafe came with a huge chip of glass broken out of the top. For the prices we paid for this meal, I feel like the experience was not at all what I would have expected.
