Poggio is a classic Italian trattoria with comfortable neighborhood charm and destination-caliber cuisine. Created by Larry Mindel, who also founded numerous other restaurants in the Bay Area and beyond, Poggio has been ranked among the very best Italian restaurants since it opened. Led by Executive Chef and Partner Ben Balesteri, Poggio’s daily changing menus use the best available local ingredients including dishes inspired by the seasonal bounty of our local farmers, ranchers and fishermen and the traditional methods of Italy, including wood-fired ovens, house made pastas from scratch and a wide variety of dishes serving guests breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We’re honored to have been awarded a Bib Gourmand distinction by the Michelin guide in 2017, 2018, and along with being named Best Italian restaurant in Marin County by Marin Magazine in 2021.

Our meal at Poggio was wonderful. One thing I would recommend is adding an outside option to the reservation, if people will be sitting outside. We were sat outside, and this wasn’t presented as an option when I made the reservation - if it was, I wouldn’t have selected it. This was a bit frustrating, and we did wait 15 minutes to be greeted at our table. Thankfully, our server totally made up for the lack of professionalism. Mike was excellent. He had great recommendations, and was incredibly attentive during our meal. The food was truly some of the best food we have ever eaten. I got the crab pasta, and my friend got the spinach pillow pasta with the beef ragu sauce. Both were delicious, with very deep flavor profiles. We got the lemon meringue and chocolate cake dessert. Overall, the food was incredible. I would absolutely come back, but I would request to be inside and hope for Mike to be our server again!

Valentines Day Dinner at 8:30 pm. The Restaurant was packed, our table was ready at the reservation time. Service was very good. Petrale Sole, Gnudi, and Arancini were very good with nice size portions. The gelato for dessert was excellent.Nice experience for special dinner or late night dinner in Sausalito,

Our food came 2 minutes after we ordered it. First they served us two identical dishes. Then corrected the wrong dish 2 minutes later. No exaggeration. I'd bet money they sat under a warming lamp waiting for some one to order them. My wife had the short ribs which she thought were delicious. I had the "ribeye" medium rare. It might have been 1/4" thick. It was pink inside, but lacked juiciness. It wasn't dry but it did have a bit of a chew. The scalloped potatoes were delicious, but this meal was definitely NOT worth $58. The best thing I had during the entire meal was the Salted Caramel Expresso Martini. If was one of the best ever. They once served the most delicious rosemary bread. That bread and the ambience alone were with a visit. Alas, the bread vender closed up shop. Now to get ANY bread here it's an additional $8. It's really sad. This was once our favorite restaurant.

A wonderful birthday celebration was enjoyed! Food was really excellent, lovely ambience, and the hostess/waiter was especially accommodating, professional, and lovely. I should have put 5 for value, because it was excellent, if expensive. This is the 2nd finder at Poggio’s in 6 weeks. Thank you!!
