If you are looking for a cozy fall/winter vibe, look no further. Delicious hearty New England food at an excellent price point! The menu is somewhat limited, but portions are plentiful. 31 years ago we were married at the Publick House! It was lovely to return to celebrate our special day. Our waitress was attentive and very kind. Ebenezer’s Tavern is a wonderful place to eat. Highly recommend and do not forget to stop at the bakery on your way out!

After eating at the Publick House for many, many years we were surprised to hear a substitution on a meal can no longer be made.. For example: you cannot substitute Green Bean for Squash without being charged $2.00. You must now take the meal as listed on the menu, otherwise there is an Extra Charge. Very disappointed to hear this from a really special restaurant. This makes it sound like the meals are prepared ahead of time and just reheated when ordered. Hopefully they will change this policy. The service was outstanding, the meal would have better with Green Beans instead of the Squash!!!!!

We went to dine at the Publick House on a Sunday evening. Party of 3. The food was delicious. They serve a nice bread basket to start with warm, freshly baked cinnamon rolls. We started with delicious New England Clam Chowder appetizer. We had (2) Turkey dinners with turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, butternut squash & cranberry sauce. Delicious! Everything on the plate. 3rd diner loved his pot roast with mashed potatoes & gravy & green beans. For $12 you can have a complete meal which includes appetizer or soup and dessert. We did that, but were so stuffed we took our desserts home. All delicious the next day: Reeses peanut butter pie, apple pie & a chocolate lava cake. Highly recommend dining here. Our server was top notch! So pleasant, welcoming & attentive! Only suggestion: restaurant was cold. Really drafty you could feel the cold air wafting through the dining room. A burning fire would have been cozy (not sure if it's functioning). It wasn't too decorated, so the ambience could use some help. Overall, food was delicious & we would definitely be back!

Always a great choice for excellent New England meals in an historic setting. Our server, Grace, was especially kind and gave us plenty of time to talk and enjoy our lunches. The Bakery is a must on the way out!
