Our Name

Among the ruins of ancient Greece were items such as clay pots that revealed many clues to daily Hellenic life. PYLOS (pronounced Pee-'los) - the root word that includes things of clay - celebrates these prosaic artifacts we now recognize as great art.

*Pylos Restaurant now offers outdoor dining that is covered and heated.

I recommend anyone coming to New York and looking to eat some authentic Greek food, to come here. When I first booked this restaurant, I didn't have high hopes for it because from eating Greek food a lot at home, I assumed NYC wouldn't have the best Greek food available, however I was well and truly proved to be wrong. This was some of THE BEST Greek food we've had and we've visited many Greek Islands in the past. We ordered the Calamari, which was soft and had the perfect crispy/flaky batter, it came with a lovely sauce that I wouldn't usually pair with Calamari but it was a great accompaniment. We ordered Keftedes and they were stunning, I don't need to say anything else. For our mains we ordered the Mousakka (as recommended by our server) and the Brizola steak (which was HUGE) they were both beautiful, the steak was perfectly cooked, great value for money with the size of it and the chips that came with it were perfect. To top if off, they even serve a Greek beer, Alpha, I haven't been able to find this anywhere!! The restaurant itself was quiet at our reservation time of 5.30pm but by the time we left around 7pm it was busy and vibrant.

The food was fresh, delicious and good portion size. Highly recommend for both date night or casual dinner if craving a gourmet take on greek food.

We have been to Pylos several times over the last several years. It is permanently on our list of restaurants to revisit when in New York. The food and the service have uniformly been excellent. I cannot say enough good things about them.

From the atmosphere, the quality of food and service, all amazing. It’s a fairly intimate space, so not a ton of people walking past your table or creating excess noise. Great place to enjoy delicious Greek dishes and easily connect with the people at your table.
