If you’ve ever enjoyed the 888 dining experience, you know it’s not like your average Bay Area Italian restaurant. Conveniently located in the heart of downtown San Carlos, 888 Ristorante Italiano brings authentic flavors of Italy to Laurel Street. 888 was created from a passion for Italian cuisine that’s deep-rooted in the Maddalena family. Owner Vince Maddalena and Chef Raul learned their craft through growing up in the restaurant industry. Specifically, Maddalena’s, owned by Vince’s dad for over 30 years in Palo Alto. When Vince’s dad closed shop, Vince knew he wanted to continue sharing his passion for food with the public. And so 888 was born! When it comes to cooking, we never take shortcuts. Almost all of our menu is made in-house and we keep things fresh by changing our dishes as seasons come and go. Enjoy our intimate dining experience with a significant other, family and friends or just let us know if you have a large group and we would be happy to accommodate. Your host, Vincenzo Maddalena, would like to welcome you to his restaurant for a unique dining experience of authentic Italian cuisine. Buon Appetito!

    Will come Back-loved everything about this cozy restaurant from the delicious appetizers and entrees to the decor, menu designs and music. Wonderful and friendly service and it was a delight to receive the owner Vincente's personal attention and wonderful conversation. Our nee favorite place when visiting the Peninsula.

    Revised review! While it was disappointing - the restaurant was too cold and my red wine was cold! The bread was cold! The carpaccio was ice cold - had to send it back, other the food was good. The Calamari was very good. The pastas were delicious. I had angel hair pasta with fresh tomatoes, garlic, etc., my husband had the special with seafood. The desserts were good too - I had cheesecake - homemade and my husband had crème broulee. However, I doubt we would return. Although, it would be a good restaurant to hold a private party.

    This was our first visit and we will come back. Our dinner was very good and service excellent. Lot's of menu choices and the bread was the best we have had in a long time.

    One of our favorite restaurants! Food is delicious, intimate, lovely ambiance, great service all add up to a terrific dining experience. We’ve tried many of the items on the menu and all were outstanding. If you haven’t been here, try it, you’ll like it!
