For over 40 years, the 94th Aero Squadron Restaurant has been San Diego's landmark dining destination and is undoubtedly one of the most unique and memorable restaurants you will ever find. Located inside a replica of a World War I French farmhouse decorated with fascinating military memorabilia, antiques, and aviation relics, the restaurant overlooks Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport, and has a cozy and romantic ambiance, with large stone fireplaces, intimate booths, and beautiful views. The extensive menu features mid-western aged beef and the freshest seafood. Here you will find USDA Choice Prime Beef steaks, slow-roasted Angus prime rib, fresh fish, salad entrées, seafood, chicken, pasta dishes, and fabulous desserts.     Made dinner reservations for Christmas Day unaware that it was a buffet dinner versus menu orders. Reservation was based on photos seen on Open Table and Yelp. The cost for two people (tip included) came out to $245.00. The meal was very disappointing. The meats were tri tip, turkey, and thin sliced ham. The tri tip was very tough, and disappointing. They could’ve had a carving station at the least for the price. All the food offered was subpar. Needless to say, I would not recommend this restaurant for the food or service. I applaud the fact that they were open for Christmas but the meal in itself as mentioned earlier was disappointing.

    We have been several times for Sunday brunch and that’s excellent. We went for Christmas and it was mid, not same quality or variety of food and at $100 per person not what we had expected. Plus as a party if 6, got charged 19% gratuity for a waitress was we barely saw! I don’t recommend for holidays for this reason.

    This place has so much potential to provide a better overall experience. I made an online reservation and even noted that it was my son’s birthday, but unfortunately, none of the staff seemed to be aware of this special occasion. I brought my own candle for his dessert, yet it was forgotten when the dessert was served. It also seemed like the restaurant was understaffed, which was surprising given that it was the last weekend before Christmas—a time when increased customer traffic should be expected. While the food quality was superb and absolutely deserving of praise, the service and lack of attention to detail left much to be desired. These issues, combined with the challenges of the location and staffing, could deter guests from returning or recommending this place to others. I truly hope that management takes this feedback to heart and implements changes to improve the experience. This place has all the potential to be a top-notch destination with just a few adjustments.

    9 of us had our Christmas lunch here and it was a buffet lunch. Seriously lots of different foods and it was wonderful.

    Good variety of foods, tasty!! Some dishes in serving trays were not heated.. ie asian noodles. Waitress was great.. friendly and checked back frequently.

    We had a party of 4 at 6:45 pm we left the restaurant at 8:53pm.! Terrible service and the food was awful. There were only about 6 other table with diners in the whole restaurant, besides company christmas party outside. We had steak and a pasta dish. The pasta was uncooked and the steak was cold. It took us an hour to get drinks, utensils and water. The soup and salad came 1 hour after we ordered and the french onion soup was cold with the cheese slice sitting unmelted on the soup! We received our steaks 1 hour after the salad. This is no steakhouse if they cannot serve a decent cooked steak. For what we paid - not acceptable. We will never go back there and would not recommend to anyone. Horrible experience.

    I’m so happy Champagne included brunch is back. I’ve been coming here for 40 years now. Great 👍 to add Saturday brunch option. Our first Saturday brunch was awesome. Mac and cheese with lobster is delicious 🤤

    It seem to be a bit expensive at $100 a person for the food even with the champagne. The service was good and the ambience was OK. There were quite a few people there so the volume was up a bit. I did happen to smell something was burnt like when I burn something at the bottom of a pot. Two cosmopolitans and a peppermint schnapps coffee for $50 bucks was a bit steep. We had to go down a ramp and up a couple steps in order to get to the buffet line to get our food and there was a back up very often at the steps where people were coming up and going down, which was a really narrow area.

    We went to the Thanksgiving buffet with a reservation. An officious security guard greeted waiting guests at the entrance and argued with a family whose kid had to go to the bathroom. Not a great first impression. The outdoor patio is the place to sit if there’s a crowd, and there was. The buffet was elbow to elbow in the buffet area, which was just too small a space for the number of people. The food tasted good, was fresh and plentiful. Highlights were the sushi, squash soup, seafood and dessert bar. Servers brought juice, coffee and champagne. I’d return here to lunch or another meal with table service.
