At a Cena, we share a love for elegantly cooked meals enjoyed with friends and family. We value fresh ingredients, local Pacific Northwest farmers, consistency, and seasoned and personable staff. We proudly serve handmade pasta and cured meats, daily prepared focaccia bread, a well-matched wine list. Our aim is to offer our guests a fine-dining experience with the comfort and warmth of an Italian country kitchen. Consistent with our mission, we take the Coronavirus (COVID-19) very seriously, and we are closely monitoring the situation to ensure that we take the necessary, preventative steps to mitigate risks and protect our guests and employees.

    Really, really nice dinner experience. Service phenomenal, not hovering, but on top if it all. Food was fresh, savory, nice portions. I think everything was made there? Hard to beat.

    Amazing food, wonderful service. On a Sunday evening parking was easy on 13th Ave, so don't let that worry you. The only spoiler to our evening was the two people at the table next us, one of them talked virtually non-stop through her and our meal with occasional full-volume cackles.

    Had to send both our mains back because they were not hot. Lots of staff, but not efficient. Next to us a party of 5 or 6, seated after us, ordered and were served before us. It was a birthday and I expected romantic from descriptions; we did not find it so.

    We are visiting Portland from Northern California for a few days and in our foodie driven research, had heard that A Cena Ristorante was worth checking out. October 31st happens to be my husband and I’s “dateaversary”—the date of our very first official date, now 7 years ago. We always try and do something special on this day, and A Cena felt like a good spot to celebrate one of our personal milestones. We started with an Antipasto appetizer, a tray of yummy pickled veggies and accoutrement, and probably hands down the best burrata we have ever had. Firm, rich and not mucous-textured or watery. My husband got the hangar steak, and I got half portions of two different pasta dishes since I couldn’t quite decide. Our waitress was very nice and cordial at the beginning of our visit, but both my husband and I sensed that by the end of our dining, she was a bit cold and what we described as “bored” of us. Our interactions with her had been nice, enthusiastic, thankful, appreciative—and we did not linger at the table longer than it took to eat…so I’m not quite sure why she seemed to be disinterested with us by the time we finished up desert, paid the check, and left. Other than that, I’m glad we now can say we’ve tried A Cena Ristorante, and can cross it off our culinary bucket list.

    Loved it! Everyone was really friendly and the food was amazing. Happy we were finally able to come by and try!

    First time at A Cena Ristorante and we will definitely return! We tried 2 appetizers (Formaggio e Funghi and Vongole) and then 2 small sized plates of the Agnolotti and a braised beef papardelle. We enjoyed everything!
