Paying homage to Oakland history-about 100 years ago there was a lounge and club called the VARSITY LOUNGE located in our same location, who knew! In digging up old Oakland memorabilia, we found an old menu. To our surprise-they were well known for two things the Varsity Martini and Conga Lines!! While we aren’t ready for a conga, we are ready for the Varsity Martini and other drink specials. Come join us every day in our downstairs café, and our upstairs bar Monday through Saturday.

The new menu is quite an improvement. Dined with three others. Everyone was quite happy with their items. I had the double think blueberry pancake. It was fluffy, light and crisp all at once.

The special Hanukkah menu was as good as dining gets. Go while it’s still available. John at the bar is extraordinarily knowledgeable about all aspects of food and might be the best bartender in the Bay Area.

Acre never disappoints. This was no exception. There was a delay in the kitchen and food was taking longer than usual to come out. We barely noticed because we were with old friends catching up. But the manager came out and apologized and brought us a free appetizer and comped another round of drinks, so we were all good!

This a great place with good food and hard working staff. We dined in the cafe downstairs during happy hour. It was kind of noisy but we could still have a conversation. The potato pizza and the rigatoni were excellent. We shared the ice cream which was more than enough for three people.
