Mario & Allegra Perez met when they began working together in an Italian restaurant in Santa Monica in 2000. In 2008, they started their first restaurant, Tortuga Bay, which features authentic dishes from Mario's hometown of Guadalajara, Mexico.

In 2019, Mario & Allegra decided to recreate a similar type of restaurant in which they met: California-Italian cuisine for the neighborhood and families to gather and enjoy locally-sourced meals. Allegra California Café offers healthy alternatives, hearty comfort foods, and vegetarian and vegan options. We proudly serve Lavazza coffee as well as beer, wine, & wine-based cocktails.

My friends and I went to Allegra for our last lunch there. Sadly they are closing as of 10/27. We always enjoyed our meals at Allegra be it lunch or dinner. Their prices were reasonable and affordable. We will miss them.

Hosted my daughter’s bday lunch here (after Escale Room down the block), on the quiet and pleasant patio. Mario was so accommodating! Food was great, and the dessert plate to die. Food standouts: Garlic fries Shrimp burger had actual pieces of shrimp (not a ground patty)! Fig and ricotta toast Passion fruit mousse Mimosa It was a perfect day and I highly recommend this place for a pleasant meal with friends and family.

Don’t be fooled by the dated interior (outdoor patio in back very nice). The food here is OUTSTANDING! Very generous portions so you can easily split food. Service very good, too.

Staff is very friendly and knows the menu well. Food is delicious and serving size is plentiful. Atmosphere is more casual than we expected, but the food and service more than make up for it. Plan to return soon.

This is our "go-to" local Italian restaurant! We enjoyed the indoor dining option since it was a little breezy in the back "umbrella" patio. We enjoyed the seafood pasta and the Salmon!

Good was yummy they were just insanely understaffed and slow… we got our food an hour and fifteen minutes after we sat down.

Food was great - the lasagna so incredibly delicious but warning the Diabola pasta is very spicy. Love the patio with the umbrella ceiling very pretty!
