A secluded haven where precision meets passion, Almanac offers an intimate setting with 14 table seats available for reservations and 7 additional seats reserved for walk-ins. We are inspired by the finest traditions of Japanese bar craft and the American speakeasy. Our handcrafted cocktails, filtered through the lens of the Slow Drinks movement, explore the intersection of Japanese flavors and American terroir.

Please call at 215-238-5757 for walk in availability.

House Rules:

No parties larger than 4 and no split parties.

No seating incomplete parties.

Your table time may be limited to 90 minutes.

Flash photos, lights, and phone calls are strictly prohibited.

No rowdy behavior.

To be fair, I personally went to Almanac for drinks and so the food rating was based upon price point, uniqueness, and description. However, best you make your own decisions. The drinks, service, price and ambiance were terrific. I was treated with kindness the moment I walked in and those feelings of kindness, joy of service and attention to detail did not diminish as my evening went on. The head bartender, Rob, and his amazing second, Jordan, were absolutely incredible and I was lucky to be able to watch them in action at the bar. They talked happily with patrons while offering challenging options to customized drinks. I personally had a highball (refreshing and great start to the evening), a Kasugai Sour (a personal selection by the bartender, Rob), and ended my evening with a House Punch (a selection by Jordan). Almanac was incredible. With a focus on slowing things down and savoring every moment, with and without a drink, it was well worth the wait.

This all depends upon what you’re looking for. The drinks were good but you have only 90 minutes to enjoy one or two before your time expires and it took 35 minutes to receive our first one. Also be very careful on the steep stairs on your way out.

Intimate jewel of a place located upstairs from Ogawa omakase sushi bar. The cocktails are a marvel—loved the tomato essence riff of the dirty martini. But the bespoke cocktail made after giving your taste preferences (vegetal vs sweet, gin vs vodka, etc) were revelatory. While the menu is spare it’s all delicious and be prepared to order two sets of fries and their addictive wasabi mayo dip. The chicken is crunchy, the tofu slider satisfying and the hot dog rich and juicy. The celery and cucumbers are great palate cleansers. Don’t forget to order a beer to accompany the food and save your cocktail for sipping before and after. There were 4 of us and we ordered everything on the menu with doubles on sandwiches and fries. Your time slot is limited to 1 hr and 45 min and you’re going to want to take advantage of all of it so plan to order your next round of cocktails 10-15 min before you’re done with your first as they do take time to prepare. Budget $100pp with 2 rounds of cocktails and food. Server and host Eli Eisenstein is warm, welcoming and knowledgeable. Cocktail maestro Rob stopped by at the end to check in which was so appreciated. We will certainly be back. A wonderful addition to the Philly food scene.

W loved this. The drinks were amazing, I got the old fashioned and a custom mocktail which both tasted great. My husband had two different custom cocktails. Both were some of the best drinks he has ever had. Also, make sure to get the fries. Service was great as well. Go here.

Super special bar. I almost don’t want to write this review because I dont want them to be harder to get into! All food and cocktails were wonderful, and Eli made great recommendations to match cocktails to our preferences. Will absolutely be back.

The 90 minute timeslots are too short. We were served only once and the drinks took so long we could only order one round; I wasn't even finished with mine when we were told we would have to leave soon. In order to place an order for food, we had to flag down the waiter very aggressively. Timeslots should be for at least two hours, and then the service issues would not be so difficult. That said, every single drink was amazing and the ambience was wonderful.
