I recently visited Amarone Italian restaurant, and unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to expectations. The ambiance was lacking— bright lighting created an atmosphere that didn’t evoke the warm, inviting feel of Italian dining. There was also a missed opportunity to enhance the experience with typical Italian touches, like serving bread, olives, olive oil, etc while you browse the menu.
The starters were particularly disappointing. They looked like something straight out of the supermarket— expect just a few slices of cured meat and some cheese cubes on a plate with a drizzle of balsamic. For an Italian restaurant, I expected a little more effort and care in the presentation. The main courses didn’t fare much better. The pizza, in particular, was undercooked and we had to ask for Parmesan cheese and olive oil to be brought to the table. Overall, the food felt bland and nothing stood out as particularly memorable. The prices felt steep for the quality of food and experience offered.
The restaurant’s presentation also left something to be desired. The tables lacked the elegance of white tablecloths, and the staff weren’t particularly welcoming, which made the experience feel impersonal.
While it’s always nice to see a new independent restaurant on the high street, I’m afraid I wouldn’t return or recommend Amarone. With a bit more attention to detail in both food quality and customer experience, it could be a lot more appealing.
